Apparel Group owner Andrew Michael has paid $24m in purchasing a four-bedroom sub-penthouse in the luxury Billyard Avenue project in Sydney’s Elizabeth Bay. Marketing agent Ray White Projects managing partner Eddie Mansour was not commenting on the purchase, but confirmed the prestige project was under construction and would be completed in 2025. A handful of apartments in the block of nine are still on the market, starting at $18m.

The $30m penthouse sold to former head of UBS Matt Allen, the owner of standout Sydney to Hobart-winning ocean racer Ichi Ban. Another harbourside sub-penthouse sold to lawyer Chris Coudounaris for $22m, while Tina Green, widow of the late hotelier Maurice Green, purchased the garden manor for $17.5m. Located near the Elizabeth Bay Marina, the house-sized single-level sub-penthouse, designed by Adam Haddow and Victoria Judge of SJB, continues the trend of buyers looking “to right-size, rather than downsize, without compromising on luxury”, Mansour said. The co-selling agent is Richardson & Wrench’s Jason Boon.
