domain.com.au – Buyer pays a record-smashing mega sum for a Bondi Beach penthouse that doesn’t yet exist
A buyer has paid a record-smashing mega sum for an apartment that doesn’t yet exist.
The Bondi pad has fetched about $22 million – the most ever paid for a single-level apartment in the iconic coastal suburb.
Ray White Projects confirmed the Aqualine Bondi Beach building’s penthouse sold and although they could not disclose the exact price, said it was in the realm of $22 million.

Construction on the luxury project will be completed at the end of the month.
The four-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom Aya penthouse, above Hall Street, is the largest apartment ever built in Bondi Beach. It covers 443 square metres and has two colossal terraces.
Agents Eddie Mansour of Ray White Projects and Jeremy Wiesner of Wiesner Property did the deal for the property, atop a design by world-renowned architect Koichi Takada.
A buyer from Sydney’s eastern suburbs is the new owner of one of postcode’s best trophy homes.
A buyers’ agent – Will Roberts from Alsaker – negotiated the sale for his client.

“Every square metre of this penthouse goes above and beyond. The indoor/outdoor living areas, enhanced by Takada’s signature touches, were a major drawcard for buyers,” Wiesner said in a statement.
Aqualine is a low-rise project of only 12 apartments, developed by Moshav Financial and Lords Group. The softness of the design marries with the heritage stone building next door and speaks to the coastal location.
Tal Silberman, group managing director of Moshav Financial, said the transaction proves the depth of the market in Bondi Beach.
“This record-breaking sale is testament to the desirability of Bondi Beach and the appetite for truly magnificent design,” he said in a statement.
